Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM)

This is the use of surgical grade stainless steel instruments to gently scrap the skin to affect the fascia and muscle tissue.

The original modality is known as Gua Sha. This Asian modality normally uses wood or stone instruments, and tends to be very rough - producing petechiae (ruptured capillaries) or bruising, which indicates unwanted tissue damage. Modern modalities are known as Graston Technique (Patented/Trademarked) or IASTM. Though the treatments may still be rough with many practitioners, it has been found that gentle treatment does not cause tissue damage and still has a positive effect. I ONLY USE GENTLE TECHNIQUE.

This may be added to a "More Than Massage"® Treatment, if required, although I tend to have good results without the use of instruments.
